Credit Card Processing & Hardware
Many new business owners usually lease their credit card terminals because they have been convinced that this is the best way to go. Because of their lack of knowledge in this area, telemarketers and other companies are ready to give a helping hand to offer what they think is the best solution for the business owner.
A new business owner will spend a whole lot more money on leasing a credit card machine than purchasing one outright. While leasing one can cost them thousands of dollars, putting your money into a purchase of a simple swipe/print machine will only cost you $200 to $300 dollars which is a lot of savings especially when you're just starting out. This money saved can go into another purchase that you require for your new business.
New companies are usually now the only ones still leasing equipment because they are so busy trying to get their business started and do not spend the proper time researching their options, they get convinced to lease by eager sales people. Back in the eighties and early nineties a lot of businesses leased their equipment because they were led to believe that the equipment was very expensive. Now because of the internet, people are more aware of the facts and cannot be easily scammed about their investment options. It's usually only the new businesses that are still leasing.
Some business still do lease their equipment if the equipment is very highly priced. Wireless terminals are becoming more affordable but can still cost over a thousand dollars which is quite a bit of money. Leasing may sound more reasonable initially but in the end you will pay more than the original cost of the terminal.
If you do decide to lease your equipment, always be aware of all the terms that go with it. There are always strings attached. Leases last anywhere from 12 - 48 months and the shorter the lease the higher the monthly payments will be. There may be penalties for trying to terminate the lease and also buyout options to consider at the end of the lease. Be sure you completely understand what you are getting into before signing a lease. The costs can be hefty.
See how much more leasing will cost you compared to buying your equipment outright by using the lease cost calculator.
Formatted card led to massive lost space on a Canon A560?
I just attempted to format my memory card (a 2GB PNY for my camera) on my Canon A560; for some reason, after I formatted it, the camera said I now only had sufficient space for 632 pictures, whereas before I had enough space for 1006. Help?
PS: I formatted it with my camera; it still had lost space, so then I tried it on my friend's A570...it both said that I had 1006 photos left when first inserted, and then still 1006 when it was formatted.
Here is a table that shows the relationship. between Pixels, card size, and number of photos. It sounds like your Pixel setting may have gotten changed. If it is not right have the camera reformat the card again.
